It was lying on the bathroom floor, slightly off to the side where the ceiling light barely reached. From a distance, it looked like a small piece of rubber or some bit of packaging that had fallen and been forgotten.
It was dark, irregular, and completely out of place.
I almost ignored it.
Bathrooms are full of little things that somehow end up where they don't belong—bits of packaging, hair ties, pieces of tissue, dried soap, and whatever else gets pushed into corners during cleaning.
So I assumed that's all it was.
Then I looked again.
Something about the shape bothered me.
It wasn't flat like paper or plastic. It looked thick and uneven, almost as if it had a body. The longer I stared at it, the more difficult it became to convince myself that it was ordinary debris.
What if that's not trash?
That thought was enough to make me stop.
The Bathroom Suddenly Felt Different
I took a cautious step closer.
The room seemed strangely quiet.
I checked around the toilet first, wondering whether something had fallen from behind it. Then I looked beneath the sink, around the pipes, beside the shower, and along the edges of the walls.
Nothing seemed unusual.
I even looked toward the ceiling.
Everything appeared completely normal.
And somehow, that made the mysterious object on the floor seem even stranger.
I went back to looking at it.
Dark.
Thick.
Irregular.
And somehow... organic.
I tried to think of every harmless explanation.
Maybe it was a piece of old rubber.
Maybe something had fallen from a cleaning product.
Maybe it was dried material from somewhere I hadn't noticed.
Then another thought entered my mind.
Did it move?
I immediately dismissed it.
Of course it hadn't.
I was staring too hard. Shadows can play tricks on you, especially in a dim room.
So I kept watching.
Nothing happened.
For several seconds, the object remained perfectly still.
Then I saw it again.
A tiny movement.
I froze.
It Moved Again
