One tablespoon of vegetable oil, four bone-in pork chops that are about an inch thick, a big onion that has been thinly sliced, three minced garlic cloves, salt, and pepper to taste are the ingredients.
- Three tablespoons of self-rising flour
- 1.5 glasses of milk\
- A cup of rich chicken broth
This recipe calls for two pounds of thinly sliced potatoes, one cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and one teaspoon of paprika.
For garnish, chop some fresh parsley.
Instructions:
1. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) for at least 15 minutes.
2. Add salt and pepper to both sides of the pork chops.
3. Preheat the vegetable oil in a big pan over medium-high heat and sear the pork chops on both sides. Take it out of the pan and put it aside.
4. Saute the garlic and onion slices in the same pan over medium heat. Keep cooking until the onion skins become somewhat transparent.
Fifth, make a roux by swirling the flour into the garlic and onions for one minute while you keep stirring.
6. Add the chicken broth and milk little by little while whisking constantly to thicken the sauce.
Set aside as you take the skillet from the stove. 7.
Put half of the sliced potatoes in a large casserole dish and cover with a thin coating of sauce.
9. Top the potatoes with half of the shredded cheese and half of the onion milk sauce.
10. Spread out the remaining cheese, sauce, and potatoes in a second layer. Paprika, for color and taste, sprinkled over the top.
11. Arrange the browned pork chops on the layers of potatoes.
12. Bake the casserole dish for 1 hour in a preheated oven, covered with aluminum foil.
If you want perfectly cooked pork chops and tender potatoes, remove the foil after an hour and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and set it aside to serve.
15. Before serving, top with freshly chopped parsley for an extra pop of color and a burst of freshness.
